Salute to Broadway: Custom Framing Theater Ideas

Salute to Broadway: Custom Framing Theater Ideas

We are big fans of Broadway. In fact, Mary Lou and I have a great Broadway story. We attended a trade show in NYC a few years ago and wanted to catch a show. Groupon was still a thing, and the site had two offers for discounted tickets to newer musicals: Finding Neverland and Hamilton. We only had time for one show, so we chose Finding Neverland which was spectacular. Two weeks later, we discovered that Hamilton was a bonafide Broadway hit. The show had sold out for years and ticket prices were no longer $36 a seat. Mary Lou and I learned a valuable lesson that day; buy the tickets to both shows–no excuses. The framed Playbill lives in our studio to remind us of the adventure.

This is why we love custom-framed theater paraphernalia. Posters, Playbills, ticket stubs, and photos are tangible reminders of time well spent. Why shouldn’t you frame and hang it on your wall to enjoy?

If you’re looking for custom framing theater ideas, we have a few examples to share that will help get the creative juices flowing:

Signed Custom-Framed Playbills

I don’t know if I’ve ever cared about not creasing anything as much as I have a Playbill. I want that program to be pristine. However, I’d gladly take a crease for a few signatures. If you hung out near the door to get your Playbill signed, then you need to have that program framed and on display. Here are two signed custom-framed Playbills. Signed Custom-Framed Musical Posters

The only thing that feels fancier than a signed Playbill is a signed poster. Large and in charge, a signed musical or theater poster has presence. It makes for a great centerpiece on a collage wall or as a stand-alone showpiece. Here are signed custom-framed posters. The Ragtime poster is in a tan lacquer frame. The Music Man poster is in a black lacquer frame.

Unsigned Theater Posters

Unsigned posters are just as fun as their signed counterparts. Dedicated theater fans want to feature their favorite stories and performances. Custom frame several of these posters to make a gorgeous gallery wall display or to add a pop of personality to any space. Here are two custom-framed Broadway show posters. The Parade poster is in a tan lacquer frame with white matting. The 1776 poster is in a red textured frame with white matting.

Broadway Musical Albums

Albums are a fun and unexpected piece of art. It is compact and has a unique size and design when compared to a program or poster. You can use a modern album or hunt down the vintage version of your favorite show for an art wall, kids’ room, or bookshelf. An Annie album custom framed in a white frame.

Local Theater Productions

In Baltimore, we’re fortunate to be surrounded by so many wonderful theaters and concert spaces. We’re almost spoiled for choice; if a show isn’t coming to Baltimore, then you can hop on the train to DC, Philadelphia, or New York City. It’s that easy. Show your support for local theater by adding a memento from your favorite show to your custom framing collection.

We encourage you to get as bold and creative as you want with your Broadway and theater framing designs. These shows are larger than life and evoke strong feelings when you experience them. You can choose frames with bright colors, fun textures, lacquer finishes, and intricate details that accentuate the poster and program. Be bold!
