29 Apr 6 Ideas for the Perfect Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Gifts
When you’re a kid, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are pretty easy. All you need to do is give that parent a homemade card and make peace with your siblings for that special day.
Getting older complicates many things – including getting Mom and Dad a gift.
In our opinion, the best gifts are personal. It’s easy to pick up a purse or fishing hooks, but it is harder (and special) to find something that has a unique meaning to the recipient. Here are six gift ideas that you can customize for your perfect Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts:
1. Give them something homemade
The best gifts are homemade, right? You can frame artwork you made as a kid or pieces that your child has created. If you’re a crafty person, you can custom frame a piece that was made special for Mom or Dad.
2. Copy, restore, or frame their favorite family photos
This one is always a hit. If you have a photo of any meaning – snapshots of parents, group family photos, special vacation images, etc., restoring and/or framing that photo is almost guaranteed to bring a smile to their face. It doesn’t matter if the photo is 100 years old or 10 days old, photos are always a sweet gift.
3. Shadowbox your family history…
If you’re looking for a gift that is truly unique, you can’t go wrong with a shadowbox. Family memorabilia that is special and deserves to be seen can be displayed and preserved in a shadowbox. Your theme can revolve around one person, multiple people, or certain types of family items.
4. …or their personal interests
If you don’t want to or don’t have family memorabilia to display, you can shadowbox items that revolve around a particular interest. You can custom frame items that they have collected over the years or create your own collection of items you think they’ll love.
5. Celebrate their favorite teams
This is an easy, but fun gift. Find a jersey, signed photo, game day giveaway, etc. and frame it for the ultimate sports fan.
6. Take something off of their “to-do” list
While this is not strictly related to photography or custom framing, we think it’s a great gift. We have clients that bring in photos that need to be copied, digitized, and framed for their parents all of the time. It’s always a great gift to help someone cross something off of their list, and you’ll enjoy seeing the pieces every time you visit your parents.
